Language packs enable creation of sites and site collections in multiple languages without requiring separate installations of SharePoint Server 2010, Project Server 2010, Search Server 2010, and Office Web Apps 2010. Multiple language packs can be installed on the same server. Application of a Language Pack will not change the language of the installed Microsoft server product, or the language of the administrative features.

Here’s a quick list of the lastest Hyper-V Virtual Machines available for download from Microsoft. If you’re setting up a little private playground lab, this will save you tons of time and get you working out the latest and greatest software in a flash.

Virtual machine “a” contains the following pre-configured software:
Active directory has been preconfigured over 200 “demo” users with metadata in an organizational structure. All of these user profiles have been imported and indexed for search within SharePoint Server 2010.
SharePoint Server 2010 has been configured in a “Complete” farm using the default SQL Server 2008 R2 instance. A default site has been created using the Team Site template at http://intranet.contoso.com/ and a FAST Search Center at http://intranet.contoso.com/search/.
As shipped virtual machine “a” requires image “b” for email. Running image "b" is optional.
The Microsoft Filter Pack is a single point-of-distribution for Office IFilters. IFilters are components that allow search services to index content of specific file types, letting you search for content in those files. They are intended for use with Microsoft Search Services (Sharepoint, SQL, Exchange, Windows Search).
Install this product if you want to search for content in the file types listed below.
The Filter Pack includes:
Legacy Office Filter (97-2003; .doc, .ppt, .xls)
Metro Office Filter (2007; .docx, .pptx, .xlsx)

SharePoint 2010 Upgrade and Migration Vendor Selection
The upgrade and migration space seems like it’s getting crowded. How does one navigate this space? First let me say that despite what I say, it will appear I’m biased due to my affiliation with Quest software as a paid employee, no I don’t have a quota or get paid any extra for this post. If anything there’s more risk than reward for a post like this. In the past when I’m asked specific requirements I try to push the vendor with the best solution. Here I will list the various Upgrade and Migration vendors. Many will be releasing their solutions RTM +60 including many making their announcements in June 2010 for their 2010 Solutions. I highly encourage you to e
xplore their solutions with them. Special thanks to Owen Allen, Inna Gordin, and a great post by Deepak Bhat “10 Content Migration Tools to SharePoint Platform” which inspired me to not just include the traditional SharePoint vendors, but others that aren’t so traditional and dig even deeper for new ones. I hope you don’t get lost in this list. I hope you find the sorting by the source to be useful.

Full crawl sequence demo (SharePoint Server 2010)
Updated: 2010-04-22
[This article is pre-release documentation and is subject to change in future releases.]
This demonstration illustrates the sequence of events that occurs when you initiate a full crawl. The video shows the following events:
- Replication of content source data to the search registry hive on each crawl server
- Crawling of Web sites and SharePoint site structures
- Processing by the content processing pipeline, including word breakers, IFilters, and indexing
- Replication of the index to query servers
The scenario depicted assumes a single crawl database and a single index partition.
Today’s guest is Jeff Conrad, co-author of the book, Access 2007 Inside Out, and a tester on the Access Services team. During this episode, Jeff talks about his upcoming book, Access 2010 Inside Out, discusses how he built a completely web-based restaurant management system using Access, and walks us through the system's features, including data macros, custom reports, filtering, and client functionality.
