Windows Folder web part

This Windows Folder web part allows users to store files within a standard Windows (NTFS) folder in a shared network location and display a list of those files in a SharePoint page via a consistent ‘document library’-style interface. A new NTFS sub-folder is automatically created for each SharePoint site that is configured to display the Windows Folder web part, underneath a 'root' NTFS shared folder on a defined server. The NTFS security ACLs for each sub-folder are automatically synchronised to match the list of SharePoint users for the site, so the administrator experience is simply to "drag and drop" the web part. Now you can select everything you want and get a fully description of your CSS or HTML information ! (and then to validate in in 800*600 with all your Table Cell paint in red) No more problem to find the incorrect CSS style use in your html code.

SharePoint Design Tip: Condense those My Site Styles

So instead, utilize some CSS code to take this step out. Replace all of the code in OWSPERS.css with three Import tags:
@import url(ows.css);@import url(sps.css);@import url(menu.css);

This will import in all of the code from those three files, freeing you of multiple location updates and of one very, very long css file. From here you can add on any custom styles or changes for personal sites and manage it much easier.

The order of the @import tags is important, you want to keep SPS pulling after OWS. OWS is for portals and WSS sites, while SPS is only for portals and has some overriding attributes.

End of last year I had a posting copying a good tip from Jim Duncan about moving the different administrative links in a WSS top level bar to the Modify Shared Page menu.

Today, I got the question again from one of our developers. The goal was to have a very very simple way of adding it to a SharePoint installation and have all the sites having that behaviour. So, after some investigation, I came up with the following. Do know that it is kind of a very quick thingie I have done here but maybe some people want to finish it and make it more generic and flexible :-).

Follow these steps:
Open the ONET.XML in the C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\60\TEMPLATE\1033\STS\XML folder. Remove the NavBar links... and read the article ;+)

Microsoft® Office SharePoint® Portal Server 2003 Service Pack 2 (SP2) contains significant security enhancements, in addition to stability and performance improvements. When you install the service pack, no user dialog box appears after the service pack is successfully installed.
•After you install the service pack, restart the server for the upgrade to complete successfully.

Windows Workflow Foundation

Windows Workflow Foundation is the programming model, engine and tools for quickly building workflow enabled applications on Windows. It consists of a WinFX namespace, an in-process workflow engine, and designers for Visual Studio 2005. Windows Workflow Foundation is available (currently in beta) for both client and server versions of Windows. Windows Workflow Foundation includes support for both system workflow and human workflow across a wide range of scenarios including: workflow within line of business applications, user interface page-flow, document-centric workflow, human workflow, composite workflow for service oriented applications, business rule driven workflow and workflow for systems management. At the PDC this morning Microsoft demonstrated Office 12 in public for the first time. The news you'll hear is "they changed the user interface." So, we wanted to talk with the team who came up with this new UI and we wanted to ask them "are you nuts?" After all, changing how Office works is not done lightly. Julie runs the team that did the research that led to the came up with and designed the new Office 12 user interface. She gives us a great runthrough of what Office 12 does.
