Prepare yourself for SharePoint 2007 - Learn ASP.NET 2.0 Now
Say Patrick Tisseghem's on the Blog [MVP SharePoint]
Since the forthcoming new version of Windows SharePoint Services is deeply integrated with ASP.NET 2.0, my best advice for developers who are looking for resources on preparing themselves for the new version is to learn ASP.NET 2.0. One good place to start are these videos. Thanks David for the info - go to his posting for more resources.
I do agree!

Creating Multilingual Web Parts
We live in a multi-lingual world. Everyone speaks a different language (unless you’re a slacker like me who barely comprehends the English one) and when we build an uber-cool Web Part (say a new Discussion Forum) that we want the world to use, it needs to support whatever language is out there (yes, including Esperanto). Mapping new Site Collections to Specific Databases in WSS/SPS
In some environments, the creation of top level sites (TLS) is strictly controlled such that IT Pros are the only folks who can create new TLS. Sometimes, in these environments, there is also a desire to map which database will host the new TLS. read more info on this subject on SharePoint Cafe ... (see the link).

FlexListViewer-webpart: display lists of other sites without using FrontPage
By Robert te Kaat and Bart Gunneman on SharePoint and CMS.
Displaying the contents of a list that resides in a different site, is not a standard out-of-the-box feature of both WSS v2 and SPS 2003. It can however be accomplished in several ways... see the download on Portals & Integration blog
There is however one important restriction: The list to be displayed must be part of a site that resides on the same SharePoint-installation (any virtual server or site collection).
