The SharePoint Capacity Planning Tool is a set of free models of Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS) and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (MOSS). The two models use the analysis and simulation features of System Center Capacity Planner 2007 (SCCP) to help you explore suitable IT infrastructure options for your SharePoint deployment, based on the SharePoint usage requirements for your organization that you provide to the tool. It can give you a head start on planning your SharePoint topology by producing a first approximation of the topology your organization needs. Architects, systems integrators, and deployment engineers will find it to be a valuable starting point for further refinements of the topology.

Infrastructure Planning and Design guides share a common structure, including:
- Definition of the technical decision flow through the planning process.
- Listing of decisions to be made and the commonly available options and considerations.
- Relating the decisions and options to the business in terms of cost, complexity, and other characteristics.
- Framing decisions in terms of additional questions to the business to ensure a comprehensive alignment with the appropriate business landscape.
These guides complement product documentation by focusing on infrastructure design options.
Each guide leads the reader through critical infrastructure design decisions, in the appropriate order, evaluating the available options for each decision against its impact on critical characteristics of the infrastructure. The IPD Series highlights when service and infrastructure goals should be validated with the organization and provides additional questions that should be asked of service stakeholders and decision makers.
IPD consists of the following downloadable packages:
- New! Microsoft Enterprise Desktop Virtualization

When Microsoft released their Office 2007 suite of applications they introduced the new Office Open XML standard as well. This XML standard would be the default format for all their applications and the structure of the files would be made an official ECMA standard.
As this standard is based on XML, the content of - for example - an MS-Word file should be relatively easy to parse and then do something useful with it. Something useful is in the eye of the beholder and James Newton King thought it was a good idea to set a couple of months aside and use it as a showcase for Silverlight 2.0, resulting in TextGlow, a Silverlight control that, you guessed it, can display MS-Word files.
This article shows you how to embed TextGlow into SharePoint and use it to display content stored in a Document Library. It is assumed that you are familiar with the Content Editor Web Part, if not then check out Todd Bleeker’s excellent resource on this topic.

View a short video demonstration of the User Clustering Web PartAs SharePoint deployments grow, the number of users increases exponentially, and SharePoint along with its permissions and securities, becomes more and more difficult to monitor. As user adoption of SharePoint increases, understanding of the implicit user relationships, along with permissions and securities configurations, becomes quite complex. The DocAve SharePoint User Clustering Web Part provides an easy-to-use centralized interface to receive vital information about your SharePoint users and groups.
User and group clusters are graphically displayed in the SharePoint web part, and users or groups with the most relevant permissions are listed with options to add users as colleagues.
Free and simple to install, both Administrators and end-users can obtain greater insight and intelligence on user and group permissions in SharePoint, ensuring more effective collaboration, and proper permissions management.Key Advantages of the ‘Users With Similar Permissions’ Web Part:
Total Awareness of Vital SharePoint Permissions
Flexible options and plan configurations for defining clustering rules lets administrators identify and analyze end-users based on permissions rights via a graphical topology display that groups user-sets by both discrete authority and permissions parity. With DocAve’s User-Clustering Web Part, end-users have a better understanding of users that have similar permissions.
Intelligently Group SharePoint Users According to Permissions
This powerful new web part provides key insight on user permissions with a real-time, graphical display of permission clusters. Easily visualize and monitor your SharePoint users and their permissions. Locate other users with permissions that most closely match your own.Accelerate Adoption of SharePoint as a Social Networking Platform
Discover and rank similar or relevant users, and add them as colleagues, increasing the speed and quality of collaborative activity.Assess the Impacts of Permissions Modifications
Easily assess the impact of making permissions configuration changes. Similar users or groups may require similar permissions and security updates. The DocAve User-Clustering Web Part provides customers with the visibility to ensure that groups or sets of users have the proper rights to the content they require for optimal productivity.

This paper explains how SharePoint teams can use Groove and its SharePoint Files tool to efficiently collaborate with offline field workers and selected consultants.
Download details: Extending SharePoint with Groove
Groove collaboration is as easy as socializing. But it is not limited by time or location. Groove users can interact with colleagues and other contacts in a wide range of work environments, even with offline contributors, via a single familiar interface. As part of the Microsoft Office 2007 suite, Groove 2007 partners well with SharePoint, extending collaboration beyond members of a SharePoint team to include field personnel and partners who need to work offline or do not have access to a SharePoint site.
Groove workspaces are similar to SharePoint sites, providing virtual meeting areas where team members can jointly assemble information, share files, write reports, discuss plans, design forms, manage meetings, and perform other tasks. Groove enhances the workspace experience by allowing members to efficiently collaborate with external contributors or work offline. Groove synchronizes online and offline work with documents stored in SharePoint libraries via an onboard SharePoint Files tool.
A Groove workspace with a SharePoint Files Tool provides the following benefits to organizations that store file content in SharePoint document libraries:
· Offline access to file content. The Groove SharePoint Files tool provides mobile workers and those who have limited Internet access with an environment in which they can view and update files in a team’s SharePoint library while offline or in a low-bandwidth environment.
· Access to file content for selected contributors outside of the enterprise. The Groove SharePoint Files tool enables internal and external members of a workspace to conveniently and efficiently collaborate on files stored in a SharePoint library.
Groove is easy to set up and does not require IT assistance. Built-in security safeguards provide a protected environment for collaboration among internal and external Groove users. If centralized Groove management is required beyond what is supported by Windows and SharePoint systems, Groove Server can be installed to oversee client activity.
For those who wish to download the SharePoint Themes as a single WSP, I have created a single WSP with 10 features in it.
Taking on board Randy & Sezai suggestions (Of which I agree whole heartily) that these themes should of been released as a WSP file, i found myself building it from all 10.
Unfortunately due to these not being my original works, you will have to use this package AT YOUR OWN RISK.
I am also unable to officially support this package, however if you do have a question, I am more than happy to take it on board and answer it if able/when time permits.
On a final note, please be sure to first test this package on your testing environment before you deploy these to your production environment.
You are able to download the zip file by clicking here.
Enjoy!
