MOSS2007 – Look and Feel (Part 1 + 2 - The Beginning)

A great article of Liam Cleary (Solution Architect) on MOSS 2007.
...MOSS 2007 as your should be aware has been changed slightly with it now being built as effectively an extremely advance ASP.NET 2.0 Application. Each of the pages has now been styled with CSS as before but now the layout is decided b using Master Pages and Page Layouts. This way of customisation gives you a quick and easy way to change your Portal and Sites. The pages are now rendered as below....

Create Highly Customizable and Powerful WebParts with NetAdvantage

By utilizing the capabilities of the NetAdvantage ASP.NET elements, developers can create highly customized and powerful WebParts for Microsoft Windows Sharepoint (WSS) collaboration portals and plug them directly into the WSS framework. WSS is a powerful web-based portal package that organizations are adopting as a means of online communication and collaboration. By presenting a user with a series of WebParts organized onto a single web page, information can be delivered to multiple end users. This allows developers to build interfaces that contain specific information unique to each user. This Sharepoint White Paper illustrates how to create WebParts, by providing code snippets for Visual Basic as well as C#. It also details the process of how to configure and use Sharepoint with the NetAdvantage ASP.NET tools.

By Robert te Kaat and Bart Gunneman on SharePoint and CMS.
Displaying the contents of a list that resides in a different site, is not a standard out-of-the-box feature of both WSS v2 and SPS 2003. It can however be accomplished in several ways... see the download on Portals & Integration blog

There is however one important restriction: The list to be displayed must be part of a site that resides on the same SharePoint-installation (any virtual server or site collection).

You see the data on the SharePoint page and (if you have permission) open it in the Excel client for your own analysis.
